6 Reasons I’m going to stop Freelancing in 2023

  1. It’s made me hate writing. Writing was something I did in my free time because I enjoyed it, once my freelance business grew to a certain level I started to dread writing.
  2. It’s prevented me from putting out my own content. Working on thousands of words of content for others every week left me no time to work on my own projects.
  3. Short-term gain at the expense of long term goals. Freelancing has given me so many opportunities and allowed me to make extra money but I feel like I got stuck in a 9–5 like trap.
  4. Burnout is real. I’ve realized I reached a point of burnout with my freelance business and I need a break to take stock of where I want to go from here.
  5. No Control. Not only did I not have full control over the topics I wrote about, but I also didn’t have control over deadlines, editing or pay delays.
  6. I want to spend 2023 building my business not someone else’s. Don’t get me wrong, I had some great clients that I’ve been able to refer to other freelancers, got to write about intertesting topics, and met some really amazing people while freelancing but now I’m ready to go all in on my projects.
